What if 'Tabletop' RPG is brought outside, and the place we currently live in becomes the world where fantasy unfolds?

After conducting researches and playing various types of games, I now have an idea of turning the 'reality' into an imagined 'fantasy'. Unlike video games which make use of AI to illustrate the story, tabletop RPG with a set of cards and a Game Master adds so many more possibilities to the game.

I also want to give the players a reason and an opportunity to step outside, to explore and interact with the environment, just like how they could interact with the virtual worlds in RPG and FPS video games. With help from illustrations, storyline and the game instructions, the players can navigate through London and create their own utopia through imagination.

When brought outside, the game set needs to be rather compact and light-weight. That is why a deck of playing cards is perfect for this occasion. This RPG card game only needs 1 full deck of playing cards and a smartphone. The players may want to get a piece of paper to make some notes, but it is totally fine to record things in their smartphones.

Some important game elements in this game include:

  1. Acting out a character designed by the player (appearance, races, classes, personalities, etc)

  2. A story

  3. A fantasy world

  4. Level-up system

  5. Main and side quests

  6. Interaction with the fantasy world and NPCs

  7. Combats

  8. Collaborations with teammates
